Gosdeck Bridge Dedication Brings Community Together

The Village of Johnson Creek proudly celebrated the dedication of the newly named Gosdeck Bridge with a special ribbon-cutting ceremony and a heartfelt tribute to the family whose legacy inspired the name. Sandra Beckard, daughter of Art and Ruth Gosdeck, shared touching memories of growing up on the family farm by the creek—from milking cows and raising chickens to sledding in winter and fishing in spring. Though Art and Ruth lived simply, they built a life full of joy, hard work, and love—one now permanently honored through the bridge dedication. “This was their home for most of their lives... where they raised all of us five kids and created so many great memories,” Sandra shared.

The dedication event welcomed over 200 attendees for a day filled with community spirit, family-friendly fun, and local pride. From kids’ games and vendor booths to hot dogs grilled by the Fire Department (140 wasn’t enough!), the celebration honored Johnson Creek’s history while looking ahead to its future. Local businesses and organizations generously provided free activities and support, helping to make the day truly special.
