Position Objectives

Are you ready for a fun, challenging position with one of the fastest-growing communities in Wisconsin? The Village of Johnson Creek is accepting applications for a Director of Tourism, Marketing & Promotion to lead and advance the Village’s tourism and marketing efforts.

This position may be filled full-time or part-time, with a minimum commitment of 24 hours per week for part-time candidates.

Position Overview

The Director of Tourism, Marketing & Promotion will lead a well-established and successful tourism program that has:

  • Awarded thousands of dollars in local tourism grants
  • Increased the Village’s profile through digital marketing campaigns and television exposure
  • Secured tourism funding to develop new amenities that attract visitors to the area

The Village is seeking a creative, energetic collaborator who brings fresh perspective to tourism, marketing, and brand strategy. This role works closely with local businesses, organizations, and partners to enhance tourism of all types while strengthening the Village’s visibility and identity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement tourism, marketing, and promotional strategies
  • Promote Village events, amenities, and initiatives across digital platforms
  • Facilitate media coverage of the Village, including events and other noteworthy activities
  • Engage local businesses and organizations to support tourism growth and economic development
  • Promote Tourism Grants and appropriate uses of tourism funds
  • Manage special projects that support tourism and community development
  • Maintain digital content, including website updates and online platforms

Qualifications

Candidates may come from a variety of professional backgrounds. Preferred qualifications include education or experience related to:

  • Tourism, marketing, promotion, or communications
  • Public relations, strategic planning, or community engagement
  • Digital marketing and media platforms

Well-qualified candidates should demonstrate leadership and progressively responsible experience in tourism, marketing, public relations, or related fields.

Required Skills and Education

  • Proficiency with computers, office technology, and Microsoft Office products
  • Experience with website maintenance and digital platforms
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred

The Village will consider equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience that provide the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Benefits

Salary is $25.00 per hour. The Village of Johnson Creek provides a comprehensive benefits package including paid vacation and holidays; health, life, and dental insurance coverage; and participation in the Wisconsin Retirement System. Benefits are pro-rated for part-time positions.
